Bug List
1. Slippery floors
in the common area hallways of my apartment complex
Why it exists: As a result of the hallways to
each apartment being located outside, rain constantly comes in and forms puddles.
These rain puddles make the floor extremely slippery.
2. Lack of city
parking spots in Gainesville
Why it exists: People bring their cars
to college even when most of these people never even use their cars. This
causes the already limited parking spots to be even more difficult to find.
3. Lack of
parking on campus here at UF
Why it exists: Like I mentioned
before, many college students insist on bringing their cars to college even
when they do not need to. There is only so much space on campus which makes it
very difficult to add more student parking spots.
4. Lack of available
seats in my lecture course rooms
Why it exists: The lecture rooms only
have about 70 seats in them, but the courses have hundreds of students in them.
Sometimes, close to 100 of these students come to the lectures.
5. It rains
almost every day in Gainesville during the summer and fall.
Why it exists: The geographical
location of Gainesville makes it the perfect spot for daily thunderstorms to
form and thrive.
6. My iPhone battery
life almost never lasts for the whole day.
Why it exists: The available battery
life in an iPhone is not nearly enough when you look at the amount of time
people spend on their phones in just one day. Many of the things that people
use their iPhones for use a lot of battery life in a short amount of time.
7. The lack of
students that attend our home football games
Why it exists: Many students get so
drunk at tailgates, that they can’t physically make it to the games. Other
students just don’t care about football whatsoever.
8. The RTS bus
system in Gainesville is unreliable.
Why it exists: Bus drivers randomly
decide to take breaks in the middle of their routes. This messes up the scheduled
times for every stop.
9. Almost all of
the restaurants in the Reitz Union are closed on Sundays.
Why it exists: There are not as many
people around campus on the weekends, Sunday specifically. The restaurant employees
do not want to work seven days a week.
10. Almost every
video I try to watch online requires you to watch an ad first.
Why it exists: The people that make
these videos need to make money somehow. They do this by forcing their viewers
to watch an ad before they can proceed to watching their videos.
11. Students
around campus do not look both ways before they cross the road.
Why it exists: Students are always in
a rush and almost never feel the need to stop what they are doing to check to
see if any cars are coming.
12. Cars never stop
at stop signs around campus.
Why it exists: Just like how the students
who are walking are in a rush, the students that are driving are also in a
rush. Drivers do not want to stop at stop signs because that will cost them five
whole seconds of valuable time.
13. People that
take a long time to respond to emails
Why it exists: People do not rely as
much on email anymore. Some people only check their emails once a day, if that.
There are much more effective ways to get in contact with people these days.
14. Healthy foods
costs a lot more money to purchase.
Why it exists: It costs a lot more
money to produce healthy foods compared to unhealthy foods. Because of this, these
foods have to be sold for a significantly larger amount of money.
15. The constant
long lines at Chick-fil-A drive thrus at all hours of the day
Why it exists: Chick-fil-A is so good
that people can never get enough of it. Also, because Chick-fil-A is closed on
Sundays, they are much busier than other fast food restaurants during the rest
of the week.
16. Free trials
that require you to put in your credit/debit card information first
Why it exists: To take advantage of
people when they forget to cancel their free trial before it ends. Once the
free trial ends, the company automatically charges the person’s credit/debit
card.
17. I can hear
the cars go by my apartment window all day long.
Why it exists: My apartment is located
on a busy street and the window in my room is not very insulated.
18. When people
try to talk about sports, but they really know nothing about sports
Why it exists: People try to fit in
and join the conversation even if they don’t know anything about sports. They
want to make people think they know what they are talking about.
19. There is
always a long wait to order a sub a Publix.
Why it exists: Publix has such good
subs and there are always a lot of people in line. Publix employees are also
very slow at making subs.
20. The students
that always try to pass out flyers to other students at Turlington Plaza
Why it exists: Students are always
trying to get other students to join their clubs and become members of their
organizations. Turlington Plaza is an area that high volumes of people walk
through on a daily basis, therefore it is the perfect place to try to pass things
out.
Reflection
I did not think it was very difficult
to come up with 20 things that bug me. This is because there are so many different
things that happen on a daily basis. I am sure that if I spent a significantly greater
amount of time on this assignment, I could come up with hundreds of things that
bug me.
